About

I’m Maggie — a DJ, photographer, and label founder who works by listening: to music, to light, to whatever the moment is asking for.

For thirty years I’ve been part of the underground electronic music world, first as a listener and dancer, then as a DJ, and eventually as a label founder and curator. I came up through the legendary Southern California desert gatherings of the Moontribe Collective, where I developed my own intuitive approach to mixing — lush, unhurried, deeply felt. People sometimes call what I do “chilled beats”, but what I’m really after is something closer to a healing environment: sound that invites you to slow down and come back to yourself.

That path led me to a collaboration with Bluetech and to co-founding Over the Moon — the sister label to his Behind the Sky imprint. Over the Moon has grown into a catalog of releases I’m deeply proud of, alongside a collection of over 140 DJ mixes on Soundcloud where a global community of listeners has gathered over the years. My first compilation, Matters of the Heart, was released in 2021 on Behind the Sky.

The visual side of my creative life has its own origin story. A trip to India with my mother changed the way I see. In the vast, richly colored landscapes of Orissa and West Bengal, something shifted behind the lens — nature became a collaborator, not just a subject. I came home with a passion for photography that has only deepened over time, evolving from landscapes and macro work into an eye for symmetry, texture, and the meditative quality of close attention. During the pandemic, that photographic instinct expanded into digital art, and eventually into designs that found their way onto clothing, prints, and other objects. More recently I’ve started exploring video as well — another way of working with light and time.

Sound and image have always felt like the same practice to me, approached from different angles. Whether I’m mixing music or composing a photograph, I’m not performing — I’m listening, noticing, finding my way toward something that feels true. I believe that art, nature, and the inner life are deeply connected, and that creative practice is itself a form of healing. If the things I make can create that same quality of attention in someone else, even briefly, then the work is doing what it’s meant to do.
